Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte is stepping forward to protect the residents of his state from the Biden administration’s assault on the Second Amendment.

On Friday, the Republican signed into law House Bill 258. It will prohibit state and local law enforcement officials from enforcing any federal ban or regulation on firearms, magazines and ammunition. It also prohibits the use of state funds to impose federal bans and regulations of these items.

Gun Sales Projected to Set New Records in 2021
The National Sports Shooting Foundation reported that Americans bought nearly 5.5 million guns during the first quarter of 2021.

This means that sales are up 13% from a year ago. In addition, the 5.5 million guns are the most the United States managed to sell since 1999. If the first quarter’s pace continues, 2021 can obliterate the record set in 2020, when the US sold 21 million. In contrast, Americans purchased only 8.5 million guns in 2008.

Among manufacturers, Smith & Wesson sold more than 600,000 guns and accessories in its late fiscal quarter that ended in January.

This is also double the number sold the previous year. Since 2020, shares of Smith & Wesson also more than doubled to nearly $18. Prior to the pandemic, S&W stocks traded under $8.

Still looking at some cool and unsettled weather out there today ahead of a major warm-up expected later this week. Residual moisture could generate a few rain or snow showers today, even an isolated thunderstorm is possible this afternoon, continued cool and breezy with highs in the 40's.

The snow level will climb to above 6,000 feet with only light accumulations expected. Temperatures begin to heat up tomorrow as highs top out around 60-degrees, before climbing into the mid-70's by Friday, while overnight lows drop into the upper 20's and 30's. Above normal temperatures and dry weather are expected through the weekend into at least early next week as our forecast remains dry.
