A weak upper-level low will drift through the area this evening bringing a few light snow showers dropping a dusting to an inch of snow.
Showers should come to an end around 7pm with clear skies overnight and lows in the teens & 20's. We'll enjoy nice weather on Christmas day under mostly sunny skies with light winds and warmer temperatures as highs top out near 50-degrees.
Little change to our weather over the week with cool and breezy conditions as highs remain in the mid to upper-40's, while overnight lows generally cool to the 20's. A major winter storm is on tap to arrive Monday bringing widespread rain and mountain snow to southern California, this will be the first storm we have experienced in some time so be prepared if you have travel plans.
Clouds and winds will increase late Sunday with snow showers developing overnight Sunday into Monday. West to southwest winds could gust to around 35mph ahead of the cold front Sunday night, turning northerly and decreasing on Monday.
High temperatures will drop into the 30's early next week as the snow level lowers to around 4,000 feet. This storm should bring a good round of wintry weather with accumulations a few inches of snow possible above 4,000 feet, 4-8" above 6,000 feet and up to 6-12" above 7,000 feet.
Snow showers will taper off Tuesday morning with cold and breezy weather continuing throughout the week. If planning to visit the mountains through the holidays, be very prepared for dangerous winter weather driving conditions and always carry tire chains!
