The £2.99 Special

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the 'seniors' special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for £2.99.

'Sounds good,' my wife said. 'But I don't want the eggs.'

'Then, I'll have to charge you three pounds and forty-nine pence because you're ordering a la carte,' the waitress warned her.

'You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?' my wife asked incredulously.

'YES!!' stated the waitress.

'I'll take the special then,' my wife said.

'How do you want your eggs?' the waitress asked.

'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied. She took the two eggs home and baked a cake.

I believe it started in Pittsburg over 15 years ago. No matter. Read this:

Tello, This is the type of thing that local millitias are created upon. Don't you think it just a tad remarkable that such stunning news that is essential to save your family is available for a mere $30-$40? Were it such a devastating and predictable event - would you put this sort of material on sale - or simply get it out to as many people you could? Tello, not that long ago we had a Prime Minister here named Paul Keating. (Prior to little Johnny Howard - as Keating called him) There's even a website set up through a local university here, dedicated to the 'insults' that Keating used.

A treaty was developed with our northern neighbour - Indonesia. The content included Australian crowd control. The hobnobs here believed that our troops and authorities would never comply with an order to use lethal force on our own population. So, they asked the Indonesions whether they could assist were the country here to fall into serious dissent. ie: if we call - will you come and dispatch our troublemakers.

Fortunately - Keating had a fallout with his Indonesian counterpart.... called him a recalcitrant as I recall - and all bets were off.

This arrangement occurred with minimal publicity - and was enshrouded within legislation designed to protect women from violence. And people wonder why governments come under the cynical eye of being untrustworthy!

Easy Tello ... Fluffy got it right...

We may be a few thousand miles away, but we are very much onto the whole ****-Gate terminology. It has become one of our core terms to describe a whole range of dodgy deals - and we have tricky Dicky to thank for that!!

Just add -gate to any name, project or government department and we Aussies are immediately tuned in!
