Officials say Ukrainian Neptune missiles sank Russia's Moskva – largest warship lost in combat since WWII. Russian state TV host warns conflict has 'escalated into World War III.'

Russia suffered a major loss on Thursday after Ukrainian Neptune missiles reportedly destroyed the Moskva warship.

Russia denies the warship was destroyed by a missile
A senior U.S. defense official confirmed on Friday that Russia's Moskva warship was struck by two Ukrainian Neptune missiles in the Black Sea approximately 60 miles off the coast of Odesa. The missile strike allegedly caused a "significant explosion" that ultimately sank the large cruiser. The official said there are likely casualties.

The Russian defense ministry claimed an unexplained fire broke out on the ship and an explosion was triggered from ammunition onboard. Russia's defense ministry said "the vessel is seriously damaged" and "the entire crew have been evacuated," the BBC reported.

The Kremlin asserted that while the damaged warship was being towed to a port that Moskva "lost its balance due to damage sustained in the hull." The Russian defense ministry stated, "Given the choppy seas, the vessel sank."

Moskva is believed to be the largest warship to be lost in combat since World War II.

The Moskva is the flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet
The Moskva is a 611-foot-long, 12,500-ton missile cruiser with a crew of almost 500. Coincidentally, the Moskva was built in the 1970s at the Mykolayiv Shipyard in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. Originally, the ship was named "Slava," which means "glory." The ship was renamed "Moskva" after the fall of the Soviet Union. The warship was the third largest vessel in Russia's active fleet.

Popular Mechanics reports, "The Slava-class cruisers were built to hunt down aircraft carriers in the event of a war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, which was headquartered in the Soviet Union."

The Slava-class cruiser is equipped with Vulkan anti-ship missiles, 16 long-range cruise missiles, anti-submarine, mine-torpedo weapons, and triple-tiered, 360-degree anti-air defense coverage.

"In addition to medium- and short-range defenses, it could engage six short-range close-in weapon systems (CIWS) as a last resort," the BBC reported.

"The CIWS system can fire 5,000 rounds in a minute, essentially creating a wall of flak around the cruiser, its last line of defense," naval expert Jonathan Bentham from the International Institute for Strategic Studies told the outlet.

The Moskva – which had undergone two modernizations during its time in service – has been involved in several Russian military campaigns, including being deployed in the Syrian conflict in 2015.

The Moskva was a floating command center that provided long-range and mobile air defense protection for the entire Black Sea Fleet during the invasion of Ukraine.

"The ship’s primary mission was air defense, according to the Pentagon, though the Moskva was also equipped with anti-ship missiles and had the capacity to carry 16 long-range cruise missiles, like those that have battered Ukrainian targets for weeks," the New York Post reported.

Losing the Moskva is a 'massive blow' to Russia
Alessio Patalano – professor of war and strategy at King's College in London – told CNN that losing the Moskva would be a "massive blow" to Russia.

"Ships operate away from public attention and their activities are rarely the subject of news," Patalano said. "But they are large floating pieces of national territory, and when you lose one, a flagship no less, the political and symbolic message – in addition to the military loss – stands out precisely because of it."

Retired Adm. James Foggo – who commanded U.S. naval forces in Europe and Africa – told Morning Edition, "This is a terribly humiliating blow to the Russian navy, and it's rather astonishing that they could allow this to happen to themselves."

Ukraine uses a new kind of missile to defend its country
Odesa state regional administrator Maxim Marchenko claimed in a post on Telegram that Ukrainian forces had attacked the Moskva with Neptune cruises missiles.

Popular Mechanics details the Neptune missile:

The Neptune missile is a Ukrainian subsonic, low-altitude anti-ship cruise missile. The missiles are based on the Cold War-era SS-N-25 "Switchblade," which was so closely modeled on the American AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile, it was derisively nicknamed “Harpoonski.” After the Cold War, Russia fielded newer versions of the missile as the Kh-35, while Ukraine went on to develop the Neptune, which has a range of 190 miles and packs a 330-pound, high-explosive warhead.
The Guardian reported, "The whole system comprises a truck-based mobile launcher, four missiles, a reload vehicle, and a command and control vehicle. It is designed to fly close to the surface of the sea to avoid detection."

The Neptune missile has a range of nearly 200 miles and became operational just last year.

Russian state TV host warns of World War III
Russian state TV host Olga Skabeyeva recently said that Russia is now "fighting against NATO infrastructure, if not NATO itself," according to The Independent.

"Many are saying, 'Could it not be done more quickly?' Everyone wants it to happen more quickly," Skabeyeva said on the Rossiya 1 television channel. "Everyone would like a conclusive victory. Everyone would like all the objectives set to be implemented."

“Otherwise, on the whole, it's impossible to accept the special operation which we started – Russia’s special operation in Ukraine," she continued.

"One can safely call what it has escalated into World War III," she said on Russian state-owned TV. "That's absolutely for sure."

“Right now, we’re definitely fighting against NATO infrastructure, if not NATO itself. We need to recognize that," Skabeyeva added.

FDA Probes ‘Lucky Charms’ Possible Link to Illnesses

Food and Drug Administration officials said they are examining reports from more than 100 consumers who told the agency that they got sick after eating Lucky Charms cereal recently.

The reports come after thousands of people have complained on a consumer website, saying they have experienced nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after eating Lucky Charms.

“The agency is currently reviewing and investigating these reports,” an FDA spokeswoman said.

General Mills Inc., which makes the cereal, said it is working with the FDA on the matter. The company said it conducted a thorough internal investigation that found no evidence of illnesses linked to the consumption of Lucky Charms. “We encourage consumers to please share any concerns directly with General Mills,” a spokeswoman said.

General Mills and the FDA haven’t issued a recall of the cereal, which is one of the company’s top brands.

There’s good news: the suspect in the Brooklyn subway shooting attack, Frank James, was apprehended by authorities. That was due in large part to a vigilant citizen named Zack Dahnan, who noticed him in the East Village and phoned the cops.
 
The New York citizens have taken to Zack, and he has become an instant hero.

There was a $50,000 reward available, so it appears that Zack from New Jersey is the deserving party. While the security cameras failed to capture James’ fleeing after the assault because they broke down, Zack is a camera installer. Maybe he should be hired to work on those cameras.

In the meantime, it appears that Frank James had at least twelve prior arrests — nine of them in NY and three of them in New Jersey but although most of the charges were old and might not have been felony charges, there was a criminal sexual charge among them, which could have indicated a more serious crime.

There is a video of him attempting to enter the subway, but he has trouble passing through the turnstile while carrying all of his weapons and equipment for the assault, as well as being a very huge guy.

He was much taller than the 5’5? and green vest he’d been described as, and the vest was orange. He was a big guy. It’s possible that’s why he wasn’t identified right away because the description was incorrect. After his photographs began to surface, he was apprehended.

He’s now been indicted by the DOJ for a terrorist assault on mass transit.

There had previously been rumors that he was part of the FBI’s Guardian system in the state of New Mexico. It’s unclear why, and they’re investigating whether he had any ties to any organization. But he was questioned in 2019; the investigation did not proceed.

In our story about James’ arrest, we cited an NBC story about a stabbing, but there was no stabbing at the time he was arrested, so I am not sure what they were referring to. It may be another occurrence; therefore, I wanted to clarify that. We’ll inform you if anything more develops on this. However, it appears that he was taken into custody without issue.

New York Times Easter Weekend Op-Ed
Criticizes “Hateful” God

A Good Friday op-ed by Shalom Auslander published in the New York Times advocates turning away from “this hateful God” due to missiles and mass graves being daily occurrences in Ukraine.

Auslander, heading into a sacred celebration for tens of millions of Americans, went on to assert that if he were mortal, God “would be dragged to The Hague.” He decries the fact that we “praise” and “emulate” him and try to raise children to be like him.

Will the “newspaper of record” publish a similar hit piece at the start of Ramadan? Don’t hold your breath.

This is the New York Times which in 2019 ran the headline “Boys in ‘Make America Great Again’ Hats Mob Native Elder at Indigenous Peoples March.” This, of course, was in reference to an innocent group of students from a Catholic high school in Kentucky being accosted by D.C. protestors for, among other things, having the gall to wear baseball caps supporting the U.S. president.

Multiple media outlets settled with a cap-wearing student after being sued for defamation.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Times ran an article by Katherine Stewart titled “The Religious Right’s Hostility to Science is Crippling Our Coronavirus Response.” Not much ambiguity there, and Stewart rails against “Christian nationalism” and “religiously conservative Republicans” as impediments for conquering the pandemic.

Her examples? Three megachurch pastors hardly in the Christian mainstream. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of congregations switched to virtual services and kept their doors closed for months on end.

This is the same New York Times whose reporter, Dan Levine, in 2019 trolled for dirt on Christian schools and homeschooling with the hashtag #exposechristianschools. He defended his call for “experiences” with religious schooling by saying he also wanted to hear “positive” stories.

Freedom of the press guarantees that the government will not block media outlets such as the New York Times from publishing offensive rubbish such as the Auslander op-ed. Having the right to do something hardly makes it a responsible act, and a journalist outfit with such a high regard for itself should know better.

Chinese takeout containers were invented in America.

In the U.S., plenty of Chinese restaurant fare features produce that doesn’t grow in China, such as broccoli. Thus it shouldn’t be terribly surprising that Americans also took liberties with how Chinese food is packaged.

While plastic containers are utilized to hold delivery and takeout dishes in China, diners in the States prefer a folded, six-sided box with a slim wire handle. Chicago inventor Frederick Weeks Wilcox patented this “paper pail” on November 13, 1894. Borrowing from Japanese origami, Wilcox elected to make each pail from a single piece of paper.

This decision eventually proved critical in the transportation of Chinese cuisine, lessening the likelihood of leaks and allowing steam from hot foods to escape through the top folds. Another probable source of inspiration was the oyster pail, a wooden bucket with a locked cover that people used to carry raw oysters in the 19th century. Shortly after 1900, the company Bloomer Brothers started mass-producing Wilcox’s design specifically for toting oysters.

As Americans began taking more advantage of suburban living and consumer conveniences after World War II, Chinese food delivery became an increasingly popular dinner option, with Wilcox’s containers of leftovers soon lining refrigerator shelves.

It’s very likely that fortune cookies were invented in Japan.

Numerous descendants of Chinese and Japanese immigrants to the U.S. contend that their relatives created or sold fortune cookies in California between 1907 and 1914. However, Dr. Yasuko Nakamachi, a Japanese researcher who wrote her thesis on the origin of fortune cookies, has found evidence that the crispy treats were present in her home country many years prior.

Fortune cookies in Japan go by several names, including tsujiura senbei (“fortune cracker”). They are mentioned in a story written in the early 1800s called “Haru no wakagusa,” known in English as “The Young Grass of Spring,” and in an illustrated storybook from 1878 called Moshiogusa Kinsei Kidan.

In the book, a bakery apprentice is pictured working at a station labeled “tsujiura senbei,” grilling wafers in irons while surrounded by baskets of the finished product. This image is similar to what Nakamachi witnessed when she visited centuries-old family bakeries outside Kyoto: Cooks working over flames would dispense batter into grills containing round molds. Eventually, tiny paper fortunes were placed inside the warm cookies.

Shanghai is now back under lockdown—with a vengeance. Videos reveal haunting screams coming from the people locked inside the high-rise buildings. One business owner claimed his elderly family members have been under lockdown for two months.

These people are starving to death. They have zero freedom, zero rights and do not even have the ability to buy food. Refrigerators are barren with their doors standing open on high-rise balconies for the world to see. Children are reportedly being taken from their parents and placed up to five in one metal crib and with only one caretaker per 20 kids.

Even if these desperate people want to flee, China’s social credit and Vaccine Passport app will catch them. They are trapped. They have nowhere to go.

Meanwhile, our office is flooded with Americans facing a forced vaccine mandate. We cannot allow this same digital health technology to become common in America!

When COVID was first launched, communist China swiftly mandated a digital health app two years ago. It signaled if a person was to be locked in their home, able to be outside only or able to move freely in public indoor places. Many globalists praised this system and bemoaned that America didn’t have anything like it.

Now my heart breaks for the people under the oppression this is causing.

Apartment complexes and other high-rise buildings echo the eerie cries of people yelling out the windows, “We are starving to death!” “We haven't eaten for a very long time!” “We are really starving to death!” My written words cannot convey the panic and desperation in these people’s voices. It brought my staff to tears.

Another street lined with high-rise apartment buildings has people yelling and voices coming from multiple blocks, “No more rice, no more oil!” One voice says, “These are the essentials for citizens!” A photo of a completely empty fridge that was moved to an apartment balcony was posted for the world to see. These people are risking their lives by speaking out, but they have nothing to lose now.

One disturbing video shows a man wrapping his arms around a young woman before falling backward out a fifth-story window to their deaths. Later reports claim it was a father and daughter. Suicides are skyrocketing.

And right now, America is rolling out this SAME technology for digital health and Vaccine Passports across 25 states and the District of Columbia. We don’t have to guess what our future could be like.

If what the American government has already done to our freedom and our future isn’t enough, it is implementing Vaccine Passports and digital health apps. Make your voice heard before it is too late by sending faxes to state and national leaders to stop Vaccine Passports.

What is happening in China gets even worse. Another video shows people being forced into vehicles and being hit and kicked and pushed by people in full HAZMAT gear.

Children are separated from their parents and placed in large facilities. Toddlers are pictured shoulder to shoulder, at least five to a metal baby crib. It is reported that there is only one nurse per 20 babies. Horrific rashes are developing from neglect. Other videos show young children locked in cribs, three per mattress, crying endlessly, sobbing piteously, with no adult in the room to help.

Even pets are not free from this hideous cruelty. Video shows police beating a dog to death with about 7-foot-long poles, and another shows nine bags with up to a dozen cats thrown in alive, because the government thinks animals might be spreading the omicron virus.

This violence, cruelty and human rights abuses are sickening!

But what I can’t believe is how states across America are lining up to launch the same technology that made all of this possible in China. Nations are falling all over themselves to institute this new push for digital health passports worldwide—and people are lining up to join.

We must not give up our freedom so easily. The push for a digital health passport is much bigger than COVID. This agenda was in place long before COVID. Urge your state and federal leaders to stop digital credentials, Vaccine Passports and freedom-killing mandates.

In our nation, the sovereign is “We the People,” and if there are subjects, they would be our civil servants/politicians. This means that for a government agent to try to demand you and I get permission to travel is equivalent to a peasant demanding the king get his approval before leaving his village.

Such a demand would be absurd. And it is time to remind our politicians that they are public servants and nothing more. Americans need to cling to our God-given freedom, which our Constitution affirms!

The People’s Convoy protesting for freedom has returned from D.C. to Los Angeles. Thousands of participants met in L.A. before heading to Sacramento for a protest April 18. Convoy organizers shouted, "So I ask everyone around the world, not just in this nation ... to stand up. Now is the time to remind our government and governments around the world that they work for us!"

Racist Twitter Board Declares They Would Rather Go Bankrupt Than Be Owned By An African American

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Twitter's board of directors has elected to block an attempt from an African American immigrant to purchase the company. According to sources, they decided they would rather destroy their own company than see it in the hands of an African American.

"Over my dead body!" said angry board member Foghorn Callaway, twirling his mustache and shaking his cane in the air. "I'll be hornswoggled if I ever allow an uppity foreigner own this glooooorious company!"

The other board members hooted and hollered and banged their hands on the elegant mahogany board room table in agreement.

According to sources, the young African businessman who offered to buy the company has ambitions to ensure Twitter is prioritizing free speech and "maximally trusted." His detractors accuse him of being a "yucky Nazi" and a "poopoo head" who might use his strange foreign ways to upset the systems of power that control elections and cultural movements around the world.

"Ain't no foreigner gonna get his hand's on TWITTER!" said Callaway. "He needs to go back where he came from and build his own platform!" He then spat into a golden spittoon and limped out of the board room.

According to sources, if the Twitter deal falls through, the African American businessman plans to make a cash offer of $12 for TRUTH Social.

Roman Soldier Assigned To Guard Tomb Of Some Jewish Carpenter Looking Forward To Uneventful Weekend

JERUSALEM—Local Roman soldier Plinius was given his guard assignment for the weekend and was delighted to see he'd been entrusted with guarding the tomb of "some Jewish carpenter guy," as he'd be able to get some shut-eye and have a nice, relaxing weekend.

Plinius pumped his fist and gave a little "Yeeeah boy" under his breath after his commanding officer told him he would be guarding the tomb of "this Jewish dude" who had apparently been causing some trouble.

"I'm glad they didn't put me where the action is—I really needed some downtime," Plinius said to his fellow soldier, Martinus, who was absentmindedly throwing rocks at a stump some thirty feet away. "I know we joined up for the action, but once you get into the military, you start to appreciate the more chill assignments."

"I mean, guarding a tomb—how hard can it be?" he added. "Dead guys don't typically get up and walk away, you know what I mean? HA!"

"Hey, I bet you I can hit that boulder over there before you can, Marty." Bold predictions from Trump's former Chief Strategist.

Former Trump Chief Strategist Steve Bannon made some bold predictions about the coming elections during an interview with Sky News this week.

When he was asked if Trump would be running for president in 2024, Bannon replied “Oh, it’s not even a question. He’s going to run.”

Perhaps his even bolder prediction was regarding the 2022 midterm elections, where he said Republicans could pick up over 100 seats in the House of Representatives.

“2022 is how we are going to stop this,” he said, referring to the national mess caused by the Biden administration. “We are going to have a sweeping… I think we can have a 100 seat pickup in the House of Representatives. I think we can flip the Senate. We intent to destroy the Democrat party as a national institution, from school boards all the way up to state legislatures, attorney generals, secretaries of state, to the House and the Senate. Trump is definitely running in 2024.”

When the host asked Bannon if Trump had explicitly told him that he was running for president, the conservative powerhouse deflected answering directly, rather replaying, “I think you can see from his speeches at his rallies, he’s definitely running. There’s no doubt.”

The Dark Side of Twitter's Board

It was hugely disappointing to see Twitter’s board of directors make such a predictable and banal decision to adopt a poison pill in an effort to thwart Elon Musk’s attempted acquisition of Twitter.

We don’t usually get to talk about poison pills in The Bleeding Edge, so today’s subject is interesting. Poison pills are designed to disincentivize an acquirer or acquirers from making a run at a company.

In this case, Twitter’s pathetic board put a structure in place whereby if any individual or entity acquires 15% or more of Twitter’s stock without board approval, all other shareholders will be permitted to buy additional shares of stock at much lower prices.

The idea is that if shareholders did start purchasing additional stock at much lower prices, it would result in a large material loss for the party attempting to take control.

Better yet, depending on how far the board would be willing to go, they could continue to “print” more stock and dilute existing shareholders, including Musk, in an effort to make it impossible for Musk to ever gain control.

This raises an important question… Why?

Why is the board so adamantly opposed to an acquisition by Musk, who is arguably the most brilliant entrepreneur of our time? Bringing Twitter back to life would be like child’s play for him, and he has already outlined a plan to do so. It’s something that needs to happen – and so many of us in the industry know this.

And who is the board anyway? Do they really represent the views of the shareholders? Do they own the majority of Twitter? Here’s what ownership looks like at the board level:

As we can see above, aside from Dorsey – who will be stepping down from the board next month – the remainder owns an absolutely insignificant amount of the company. They certainly don’t represent the shareholders in terms of ownership… In fact, the lack of vested interest is pretty remarkable.

Musk is right to ask for an actual shareholder vote concerning his acquisition offer. The shareholders should decide.

The board is happy to adopt the poison pill because they clearly don’t care if the value of the stock drops. This is a ridiculously perverse incentive, and the board clearly is not performing its duties in the best interests of Twitter’s shareholders.

What we’re seeing right now is the depth of corruption in social media.

It’s not about building a good business, serving your customers, and respecting your shareholders… It’s about data surveillance and the ability to exert control over a population.

The board isn’t fighting against an acquisition, it is fighting against what it sees as a loss of control… The loss of the ability to filter what we see, the loss of the ability to control the political narrative, the loss of the ability to censor, ban, and deplatform those who they don’t agree with.

It is now obvious that Twitter’s board doesn’t care what the population wants, it doesn’t care what its shareholders want, it just wants to maintain its abuse of power over what we see and are “allowed” to think.

And that’s precisely why Musk must prevail.

Whether it means a successful acquisition of Twitter or moving forward with his backup “Plan B,” we need to have a digital townhall that allows for freedom of speech, ideas, and open discourse – as compared to today’s platforms that are designed to create division, anger, and hate.

CNN’s latest ‘analysis’ column contends that President Biden can’t do much about any of the numerous crises his administration is facing.

The column, authored by White House correspondent John Harwood, argues that the President’s hands are simply tied when it comes to record inflation numbers, a humanitarian crisis at the border, the pandemic, and rising crime across the nation.

It is a column worthy of the loftiest levels of ridicule. A column so biased in defense of Biden that one wonders if it was written by Biden himself.

“There’s just not much President Joe Biden can do about it,” Harwood writes.

“There’s not much he can do to curb inflation. There’s not much he can do to stop migrants from reaching America’s southern border,” he continues. “Or to reduce crime, or to make vaccine resisters get shots that would hasten the end of the coronavirus pandemic.”

That’s just what America is looking for right now as they fuel up their car paying exorbitant amounts for gas, just to drive to work where their real wages are much lower, then hit the grocery store on the way home to barely afford food for the family.

A leader who shrugs his shoulders at it all. And a media who helps run cover for him.

On what planet does Harwood think it’s the GOP’s job to “alleviate (Biden’s) burdens”? Isn’t it the President’s job to alleviate America’s burdens.

Harwood goes on to explain that President Biden is “the victim of circumstances.”

He adds that “history shows presidents can rarely change the political weather in midterm elections.”

A little advice – Biden could start by not being catastrophically bad at his job. Across the board, in nearly every category, his job approval numbers have consistently been underwater.

On the topics Harwood mentions as being out of Biden’s control, he is categorically blamed by the American people for:

His approval rating on the economy is just 35%, with 60% disapproving.
His handling of immigration last month sat at 60% disapproval.
His approval on crime – 69% disapproved in a December poll.
Biden’s approval rating, in general, sank to 38% according to last week’s CNBC’s All-America Survey.

But alas, he’s not to blame. Can’t do anything about it, folks.
